Focal sound is wonderful, lacks a bit of bass but that solved with EQ and volume. Jazz sounds astonishing and classical I'm hearing novel details. Other styles are hit or miss, sometimes more detail isn't tidy.
However...
On my unit iPod, Touch, and iPhone (1st & 3rd gen) charging and sync doesn't work. There is a loud thud upon waking my MacPro when using either USB or line in audio. Attend is dull. As a result I request to be returning them.
The first plot was for the music room computer. We needed ample sound for listening to our performance recordings and playing with accompaniment software. Wow, fits the bill perfectly. We also connected an Airport Snarl with Airtunes to add music to that portion of the house. There is nothing like wireless and powered speakers for getting an one hundred and fifty year veteran house rocking.
I was so impressed with the sound from the Focal XS that I replaced the Harman Kardon speakers on the computer in my office. It sounds like I am listening to my music for the very first time. Many speaker manufactures publish specifications; very few bellow them with clarity and presence, like Focal XS.
I would highly recommend the Focal XS to any one looking for gargantuan sound on their computer or connect it to an Airport Declare and set music in any room of your house.
